FARGO – Two programs of The Village Family Service Center – Big Brothers Big Sisters and First Step Recovery – will be Giving Hearts Day charities on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018. This is the third year First Step has taken part in Giving Hearts Day, and the second year for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Giving Hearts Day is a 24-hour online giving event in North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. During the 24-hour period, donors can login to www.givingheartsday.org and donate directly to their favorite charities. More than 400 nonprofits and charitable funds are participating in Giving Hearts Day 2018. Gifts of $10 or more will be matched by generous donors in the community.
Thanks to a grow grant from Dakota Medical Foundation, the first $4,000 donated to First Step on Feb. 8 will be matched. Big Brothers Big Sisters has received $5,000 in matching donations from Otter Tail Corporation.
In addition to the opportunity to give online, alumni and staff of First Step will accept donations at Dunn Brothers Coffee, 2424 13th Ave. S., Fargo, on Feb. 8. Anyone who donates will receive a free cup of coffee or $2 off their order.
Together, we are becoming the most generous region on the planet. Last year, 22,000 donors (Giving Hearts) gave $10.7 million on Giving Hearts Day. This year, the goal is 50,000 Giving Hearts.
