FARGO – The Village Family Service Center has hired Gail Nelson as director of First Step Recovery.
First Step Recovery is a program of The Village, and provides treatment for individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. Nelson’s role is to promote addiction recovery services at First Step, assure quality programming and customer service, and hire, train and supervise professional staff.
Nelson is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She earned her Master of Education and Counseling from North Dakota State University, and was in private practice for 10 years. She specializes in couples therapy and treatment for depression and anxiety.
The Village is based in Fargo and has offices in 15 communities across North Dakota and Minnesota. Its programs and services include counseling, addiction treatment, in-home family therapy, mentoring, adoption services, pregnancy counseling, truancy intervention, financial counseling, employee assistance programs, and business training.
The Village’s mission is to strengthen individuals we serve through regional community behavioral health services. We are accredited by the Council on Accreditation and are a United Way Community Partner.
