GRAND FORKS – Luke Klefstad, The Village Family Service Center’s division director of Behavioral Health and Family Services in North Dakota, received the North Dakota Family Based Services Association’s Lifetime Membership Award at its 29th annual conference this month.
The Lifetime Membership Award recognizes individuals who have provided a minimum of seven years of meritorious service or employment in support of family based services. Family based services focus on the entire family to help ensure that a child’s safety, permanency, and well-being is maintained during times of crises.
Klefstad, of Grand Forks, started at The Village in 1999 as an intensive in-home family therapist, providing clinical mental health counseling to families with at-risk youth as well as outpatient services. He has provided clinical and licensure supervision for the last 14 years. Klefstad has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in counseling, both from the University of North Dakota.
The Village has offices in 15 communities across North Dakota and Minnesota. Its programs and services include counseling, addiction treatment, in-home family therapy, mentoring, adoption services, pregnancy counseling, truancy intervention, financial counseling, employee assistance programs, and business training.
