Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable things you will ever do.

As you and your Little learn and grow together, you will leave a legacy through your gift of friendship.

It is not hard to be a Big Brother or Big Sister. You and your Little will share all sorts of experiences. Ask ten Bigs what they do with their Little and you will get ten different answers. BBBS works hard to match you with a Little Brother or Little Sister who shares your personality and temperament, so your friendship will grow as naturally as possible.

Just four hours a month can change a young person's life.
Little Brothers and Little Sisters come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some are really little (as young as six) and some are teenagers. Some may live on your block and some a few miles away. What do they all have in common?

They need the friendship and guidance of someone like YOU.
Depending on the Big Brothers Big Sisters program you’re in, you will meet your Little at his or her school or in the community.

Community-Based
In the BBBS Community-Based Program, you spend time with your Little 2–3 times a month—on your own schedule. You can go to the park, attend sporting events, play board games, or participate in other activities you both enjoy.

School-Based
In the School-Based Program, you visit your Little each week at their school. You can go back to elementary school and experience the hot lunches and little desks all over again!

Volunteer Eligibility.
To be a Big Brother or Big Sister you must be 18 years or older and live in the Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead or Dilworth area. Both programs require a one-year commitment. Community-based volunteers must have the use of a car, a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and a driving record with no drug-use or alcohol-related violations in the past five years. School-based volunteers must have access to reliable transportation to the school site. All volunteers must complete an application process which includes three references, background check, child abuse/neglect check, driver’s license check, an interview and volunteer training. If you are interested in being a Big, please call 701-451-4877 and we’ll add you to our list!
