Heather Kostohryz
I am a person-centered, strengths-based clinician passionate about working with children and adolescents in a school-based setting. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness-based therapy, I strive to help each child find a sense of belonging and empowerment, learning to embrace their own uniqueness as they navigate the challenges of childhood and adolescence. I began my journey into the field of counseling a number of years ago, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, with a marriage and family emphasis, from the University of Northwestern, St. Paul. After raising a family, I continued pursuing my lifelong goal of becoming a licensed counselor and began the clinical mental health master's degree program at Minnesota State University Moorhead, graduating in December 2025. My time with The Village began in January 2025, first as an intern, focusing on school-based mental health, and then as a school-based clinician after I graduated. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, cooking/baking, and going to the lake.
